Put The Phone Down! Avoid Accidents!

Better yet, turn it off and put it away.  Many parents require their teenage children to even put the cell phone in the trunk so that they will avoid responding to the hundreds of texts that all teenagers receive every day.  Even if you have a hands free headset, research shows that the interruptive nature of making or receiving calls greatly increases the change of a collision or losing control of your own vehicle.  If you are driving your car in New Hampshire, you should know that motorcycles are everywhere.  In recent years, thousands of motorists have been involved in accidents, many of them fatal.  All accidents with motorcyclists are serious accidents that frequently lead to serious injury and sometimes fatalities.  You never want to live the rest of your life knowing that your momentary carelessness caused an accident leading to serious lifelong injuries on a motorcyclist.  In addition, to other drivers on the roadway, young drivers in particular are more likely to lose their focus and compromise their own safety through their use of the phone.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has numerous statistics about just how compromised your driving skills can be whether you are trying to find your phone in your purse, searching for the exit highway, review a text that you just received on your phone or just taking your eyes off the road for a few seconds to adjust the radio or search for something to eat.  By keeping your phone off and away from you while driving, your safety significantly improves.
