We Honor the Spouses of the United States Armed Forces

Today, we mark the twenty-ninth year of Military Spouse Appreciation Day by honoring
the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of spouses of our Armed Forces.

Our military spouses are our neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues. Many move their families and careers from duty station to duty station to preserve our safety. Families of the National Guard and Reserves live right here in our communities. They all maintain their households under the massive strain of deployment. They support their family soldier, our wounded and honor our fallen all while supporting other military families and giving back to their communities.

Our support can help to relieve the many burdens facing these brave men and women – both soldiers and families.

In the Guards and Reserves the strain is frequently greater when the former weekend soldier is now called away for a year of active duty. Stop by to see these families living in our neighborhoods to see how you can help, either with some yard work, or other everyday activities.

And so, please take a moment today to recognize the profound importance of our military spouses’ commitment to the readiness and well-being of our men and women in uniform assuring the safety of our country.
