Pedestrians and Daylight Savings Time Ending
/With the end of daylight savings time, people are now walking around in the dark. If you’re driving a car, pay special attention to pedestrians in crosswalks. Pedestrians too should look out for cars that might be in a hurry to pick up the kids, grab dinner, or just to head home; many of these drivers will not be thinking about the pedestrians that might cross their path.
When pedestrians are hit by automobiles, the pedestrian always loses against the car. Even if pedestrians have the right-of-way in a crosswalk, they shouldn’t assume that the driver will automatically stop. WATCH FOR CARELESS DRIVERS! In New Hampshire, believe it or not, a driver can operate a car without having liability insurance. In many other states, the minimum amount of liability required is woefully inadequate to compensate an injured pedestrian. Accordingly, all of us who are pedestrians when we are out of our car, have to know that our automobile coverage on our own personal cars or the coverage on our family members living in our home, frequently provides coverage in the form of uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage when the careless driver strikes the pedestrian. The moral of the story is that pedestrians should make certain that they have adequate coverage on their car so that they will be protected with their uninsured or underinsured motorist policy when they are harmed by a careless motor vehicle driver.
